As soon as I switched to a new laptop, which was also a digital drawing tablet, I found that my two old monitors were not compatible with my model and were already morally outdated. For several months now I have been studying the market of monitors, and here I am collecting my collection and conclusions. What monitor do I want to buy myself for artistic purposes and for working with YouTube videos?

To choose the right model, I will describe my requirements:

• I need a large monitor 24 “and up;
• aspect ratio 16:9 or double 32:10;
• HDMI output and preferably USB Type-C;
• flicker-free backlight and preferably> 60 Hz;
• IPS matrix, minimum resolution 1920×1080 p;
• brightness from 300 cd / m² and 100% sRGB color space.

The budget for the monitor is up to 50 thousand rubles (650$). Optimally – up to 20-30 thousand ₽ (~250-400$).

According to these parameters, the following models are available in Russia:

• Philips 276C8 27 “- 26 398 ₽;
• Philips 278B1 27 “- 30,998 ₽;
• Philips 279C9 27 “- 46 250 ₽;
• Philips 272B7QUBHEB 27 “- 34 660 ₽;

Its distinctive characteristics (important to me):

• HDMI 2.0, USB Type-C, Ethernet;
• sRGB 100%.

Cons for me:

• in the sRGB mode 100% is the maximum brightness, which is inconvenient;
• in general, the monitor turned out to be too bright, even at minimum settings;
• uneven lighting around the edges (brightness gradient).

After analyzing the market, I decided to lower the brightness requirements to 250 cd / m² and revise some of the less important parameters. And I found a couple more interesting models:

• iiyama ProLite XB3270QS-B1 31.5 “- 19 798 ₽ (slightly dimmable);
• LG 27UL850-W 27 “- 36 230 ₽ (4k);
• Philips 272P7VPTKEB 27 “- 31 980 ₽;

In terms of size, I can say that 27 inches is quite enough, since we already have an iiyama ProLite monitor – and we are completely satisfied with its quality. I’m even thinking of taking this particular manufacturer, since the monitor has very pleasant color reproduction and brightness, and the price for a model with a slightly larger screen – iiyama ProLite XB3270QS-B1 31.5 “- is still lower than that of competitors.

As for gaming monitors with a curved screen, I also decided to study them in more detail. It turned out that only 2 models on the market are suitable for my tasks and their price is about 100 thousand rubles, which is too much for me. All the same, curved monitors are more of a gaming theme, they are aimed at gamers, not artists. Although they look very cool, and at first I also wanted to have such a space station at home.

Conclusion: at the moment I’m leaning towards iiyama ProLite XB3270QS-B1 31.5″ and Philips 328B6QJEB 31.5″

• glare and darkening around the edges.

Features of the Philips monitor (32 inches):

• convenient sRGB 100%;
• many ports;
• even lighting;
• super matte.
